Options for students to receive academic support
1- Flex Time: 30 minutes is built into each day, (except for Weds.) to allow for extra time to complete homework or ask teachers for help, clarification, schedule a make-up quiz, etc.
2- Talk to the teacher to ask for help via in-person during class or flex or email. Students and your teacher can choose a time to meet that works best. Mrs. Wicks and Mrs. Bacher are also available to go with a student to talk to a teacher.
3- Students may go to AFTERSCHOOL HELP in the Learning Center.
Schedule: Monday, Tuesday & Thursday from 3:10-4:30 (2022-2023)
*This is open to ALL students. Students do not need to sign up ahead of time but, instead, they may just show up. Students may receive help organizing binders/folders/lockers, receive help starting or working on projects or just spend time doing homework and getting caught up.
4- Peer Tutoring: For help in a specific subject, ask Mrs. Wicks to be connected with a Peer Tutor during Flex, before or after school. NHS members provide 8 hours each a year as peer tutors.
5- Math Tutoring Just walk in, email or talk with Mr. Adamson/Mrs. McGirl to arrange math help during Flex in Learning Center on Monday, Tuesday & Thursday. We have 3 part-time teachers that provide help for students who need help understanding homework or maybe want to better understand concepts before a test. Come on by!
**Students in sports or performances: Students need to meet with Mr. Adamson/Mrs. McGirl during Flex if they are failing any classes to get help so as to be able to continue playing or being in a performance!

- For students AND parents: What is Executive Functioning?
- Most students will have a binder for each class.
- Some students that struggle with staying organized need things simplified. They do better with less binders. For example, having a binder for 1-4 periods and 5-8 periods may work better for them (each with dividers and folders to help keep their class paperwork organized) instead of having 8 binders for 8 classes.
- Also, buying a locker shelf is very helpful.
- Label binders and calculator
